Selena Y Los Dino was the name of her band and Selena would sing with other siblings at restaurants, bars as well as wedding fairs. Selena did not have much growing up as the group required lots of time. Their father Abraham was determined to encourage the band and eventually they were passionate musicians. Abraham senior was a member of the first band, known as Los Dinos. Selena Y Los Dinos began to be formed in the year 1981. The band is the company of the Quintanillas, and the main source of income. Quintanillas were determined regardless of initial financial difficulties to become an established band. Selena Y Los Dinos achieved popularity throughout the Western states by the end of the 1980s. Selena won the Female Vocalist Award as well as the award for Performer of the Year at the Tejano awards in 1986. Selena Y Los Dinos continued to win prizes of Tejano awards for music, as well as gaining notoriety and fame. The group was featured on a variety of programs in Spanish language, such as El Show De Johnny Canales Every Sunday, and Sabado Gigante.
